Church Road Lantern Parade

The Lamplighters have received funding towards Church Road Lantern Parade from both The Big lottery Fund and St George Neighbourhood Partnership to celebrate the wonderful and diverse communities of St George and Redfield in Bristol.

The theme of the parade is ‘The World In Lights” and the community is coming together to share bedtime stories from many different cultural heritages within our community. The first event was in 2014 and has been steadily growing each year and last year saw 700 people in attendance.

The Lamplighters are an association of experienced celebratory artists living in the St George and Redfield area who felt there was an opportunity for the community to celebrate its wonderful diversity in lights at the darkest time of year.

The Lamplighters are working with local schools Redfield Educate Together, Summerhill Academy, St Patricks Primary School & St George Pre- School and many local community groups.

The Lamplighters will run workshops for elders, children and the general public in many locations to create the lanterns in the run up to Church Road Lantern Parade.

Open community workshops will be held on Saturday 19th November 2.30-5.30pm & Sunday 20th November 10am -4pm between at St George Community Centre and on Saturday 26th November 2.30-5.30pm at Bethesda Church, both are on Church Road Bristol12.30-3.30pm.

Church Road Lantern Parade is at 4.45 on Friday 2nd December 2016.

Best viewing points will be on Church Road between Northcote Road and Avonvale Road.
