A Lantern Parade to celebrate 100 years since (some)women achieved voting rights in the UK–

Lantern making workshops are taking place across Bristol different local communities across Bristol. Some workshops will also include talks by a historian about the history of suffrage and historic moments in Bristol.

The lanterns created will mimic placards and sashes used by the suffrage movement. Join us to explore the messages of hope created by the original suffrage movement.

Be part of a celebration of history and commemoration by creating lanterns and join the parade.

Two large Suffragettes will also be joining the celebration.


Workshops will be on the following dates:

January 27th at Bishopston library 2-5pm

Sunday 28th at Barton Hill settlement 2-5pm

Monday 29th at Bristol university Students Union 5.30-8.30pm

Saturday 3rd at Elephant House, Dean lane, Bedminster 2-5pm 

On the Severn Beach Line – (exact trains TBC)

Sunday 4th 11-4 at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

Please bring either a torch, fairy lights or a bike light to fit into your lantern if you can otherwise we will supply.
